Inkatha Freedom Party has issued a strong statement condemning the
attack on its eThekwini Councillor and National Chairperson of the IFP
Women's Brigade, Mrs Thembi Nzuza.

Mrs. Nzuza was attacked last night when three unknown gunmen opened fire
at her home in uMlazi Township. According to her, a car that was seen
ostensibly patrolling the area last night suddenly stopped near her
house. Three men came out and fired towards her house. Fortunately, her
bodyguards were on guard. They returned fire and the attackers fled. Her
bodyguards believe that one of the attackers was shot in the ensuing
conflict which might give some lead towards their arrest.

"No words can best explain our anger and condemnation of this, yet
another attack on one of the IFP leaders. While we do not want apportion
blame, we take note that Mrs. Nzuza is a national leader of the IFP and
one of our strong Councilors in the eThekwini Municipality who leaves no
stone unturned in pursuit of justice," said Mdu Nkosi the IFP
Chairperson in eThekwini.

Nkosi went on: "We call on the MEC for Community Safety to ensure that
the law-enforcement agencies work ceaselessly to apprehend the
perpetrators of this dastardly act before they rethink their evil
strategy."
