The IFP applauds President Jacob Zuma for taking firm and decisive action
today in addressing the many serious concerns raised by our Chapter Nine
Institutions, and the South African people at large.

Today's Cabinet reshuffle, which sees the Minister of Public Works and the
Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs being released
from their positions in Cabinet, is indeed a great victory for our fledgling
democracy and proof that our Constitutional machinery works.

In addition, we welcome the fact that President Zuma has shown that he is
responsive to his obligation of being the final source of political
accountability in our Government.

However, this must not be the end of it all. Corruption is rampant and
widespread. Corruption is the cancer that poses immense threats to our young
democracy. It is our hope therefore, that today signals a new beginning in
which President Zuma will maintain his leadership role, in holding
accountable those who underperform or fail our nation. It is our hope that
today's decision will usher in a new era of accountability, and leadership,
in our Government.
