The Inkatha Freedom Party will approach the Durban High Court today for a
declaratory order that the IFP and its members have a right to view the
Manase Report in its entirety, and further that the eThekwini Municipality
and/or the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs be ordered
to publicly disclose the full Manase Report within 10 days of the Courts
order.
IFP MPL and attorney, Mr Lourens de Klerk, said, "It is high time for action
on this matter. The IFP is once again at the forefront of the charge,
championing all South Africans' constitutional rights for the benefit and
enhancement of our democracy." He further added, "Despite all the 'noise'
made about this matter from other opposition parties, it is sad to see that
the IFP was the only party prepared to 'walk its talk' and proceed to court
for the necessary relief."
The Inkatha Freedom Party will continue to do whatever it takes to ensure
that the rights and principles enshrined in our Constitution are protected
and upheld for the benefit of all South Africans.
