Paroled former top brass of the police Jackie Selebi has ignited debate with recent allegations that he has jumped a long queue to receive dialysis treatment at the Steve Biko Hospital with reports asserting that at least 80 patients were on the waiting list for treatment at the hospital before Selebi arrived.
According to the Inkatha Freedom Party in Gauteng the allegations on Selebi are worrying and necessitate an investigation and if they are found to be true it will be a sad day for justice.
However the IFP in the province is extremely certified with the former commissioner’s parole because justice was served on that a proper trial conduct, a sentence served and the accused was convicted of corruption and he is now released on medical grounds.
“The IFP empathises with Selebi and this is driven by the party’s “spirit of ubuntu” of being compassionate on all humanity and we feel we must give the Selebi family the privacy they deserve in this difficult time,” says IFP Caucus Leader in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) Bonginkosi Dhlamini.
“Nonetheless if the IFP finds that there is merit in what the DA and other parties are alleging, the party will not hesitate nor waver to call for a proper investigation on the matter,” concludes Bonginkosi Dhlamini.
