It is disheartening that multiple cases of women and children abuse along with killings are still persisting in the midst of Women’s Months celebrations, which is a time for priding the emphatic role played by women in the country and particularly in the Gauteng Province.

The IFP is flabbergasted by Women and Children abuse cases that have sequentially surfaced in Pretoria during Women’s Month and Day.

Wherein Mathew Ramagoshi, 50, a school teacher husband murdered his wife Agnes Ramagoshi, 45, on Women’s day and is also accused of abusing his late son Kahliso Ramagoshi who died aged 21. In the interim Lolo Ramotlhelo, 31, also from Pretoria short his wife, stabbed his two-year-old daughter Koketso to death and then hanged himself.

The IFP in Gauteng condemns these nerve-racking and regrettable incidents and we wish to send our deepest condolences to those families who have been robbed of their loved ones at helm of abusive and immoral spouses.

As the IFP we wish to declare our commitment and pledge to remain vocal in holding the government accountable for ensuring that stern actions are taken against those perpetrators of domestic violence primarily affecting women and children in our society.

“Nevertheless, we are of the view that community has a role to play in bringing these unbecoming mishaps to rest, and part of the solution that we believe can fit the bill is encouraging community to optimistically respond to awareness campaigns designed to educate them about domestic violence,” says IFP Caucus Leader in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) Bonginkosi Dhlamini.

“This will most likely furnish the public with the knowledge on how to perceive acts of domestic violence and the response to take when encountering such situations.” adds Bonginkosi Dhlamini.
