THE Inkatha Freedom Party in Kwa-Zulu Natal has expressed concern at the
continuous abuse of Youth Ambassadors and Community Development Workers
by government during preparations of By-elections.

IFP’s concern rises from observations during its campaign for a
By-Election that will take place on 5 December 2012 in Nkandla
Municipality. It seems as though Youth Ambassadors and CDW’s become
‘Jacks of all Trades’ during these periods whereby they are being
used to assist the ruling party in its campaigns.

“We knew from the launch of Youth Ambassadors and CDW programmes that
their roles will not be known and they will be vulnerable to abuse by
the ruling party to serve its selfish needs. When the Premier was
questioned about the role of these two bodies he was not clear however
it seems as though they do nothing but work alongside the ruling party
during By-Election campaigns,” said Honourable Blessed Gwala, Leader of
the official opposition in the KZN Legislature.

The IFP is calling for a proper audit stating the roles of these bodies
so that the public will know how to utilize these programmes.
