Reacting to the results in the Ward 12 by-election in Nongoma, yesterday
(Wednesday, 19th September 2012), Mr Albert Mncwango, MP, said that the
party was delighted by the outcome.

"This is a very sweet victory, especially as IFP Councillor Phumzile Ndlovu
has won the ward with a clear majority (more than 50% of the vote), because
it came very close to being stolen by the shameful tactics of other
political parties there. We are thankful that the IEC was able to take
action timeously by kicking those who had been fraudulently registered to
vote off the voters roll. If this dirty tactic had not been spotted by alert
members of the IFP on the ground and then reported to the police the result
would have been totally different. It's a sad day when political parties are
actually brazen enough to try to steal an election," Mncwango said.

"We are looking forward to the result of the Court Case regarding this
matter and what an internal IEC investigation will bring," he added.

"We thank all our members and leaders who worked so hard to secure this
victory. Let's take a moment to savour it and then back to work we go in our
service to the people," said Mncwango.

"It's extremely telling that the NFP has not been able to win even one
by-election so far," he concluded.
