The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in KwaZulu-Natal extends its gratitude to the residents of Ward 8 in Abaqulusi for demonstrating their overwhelming support for and trust in the IFP, during the recent by-election held yesterday.

In a highly-contested election, characterised by spirited competition, the IFP emerged triumphant with 505 votes out of a total of 1085 votes cast.

We wish to express our sincere appreciation to every individual who exercised their democratic right by casting their vote in support of the IFP.

Amidst the noise surrounding the emergence of new political entities, the victory of the IFP speaks to its deep-rooted connection with the people of KwaZulu-Natal.

Our track-record of service delivery and our commitment to the well-being of our communities, through servant leadership, remains unparalleled.

The IFP dedicates this remarkable victory to the visionary leadership of its Founder and President Emeritus, the late HRH Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. His example of ethical, moral and servant leadership continues to inspire us to strive to uphold the values of unity, integrity, and progress.

Furthermore, the election of Elaine Rodway, clearly demonstrates the IFP's commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

We congratulate Councillor Elaine Rodway on her well-deserved victory and urge her to emulate the exemplary leadership of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi by serving the people of Abaqulusi with humility and dedication.

We also wish to thank the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Speaker of the Abaqulusi municipality as well as the IFP’s District Chairperon Mr Khumalo for their support and dedication to improving the lives of our people.

As we celebrate this significant milestone, the IFP remains steadfast in its commitment to the people of KwaZulu-Natal.

This victory serves as a precursor to the upcoming general elections and reaffirms the IFP's position as the people's trusted alternative.

Issued by IFP KZN Chairperson and Premier Candidate Thami Ntuli
