Rodney Lentit, the ID Western Cape Provincial Secretary has congratulated Premier Helen Zille ‘for leading an anti-crime march against herself and her party' in Atlantis leading up to the by-election on Wednesday.

The DA leader was joined by Lennit Max, the MEC for Community Safety.

‘What is extremely worrying for the Independent Democrats is that this march makes it clear that the Premier and the MEC do not have workable solutions in place to combat crime in Atlantis and the rest of the province,' Mr Lentit says.

‘The ID welcomes any form of demonstration against crime, but not when it makes the community and indeed the city and province lose confidence in the provincial government.

‘The ID would like to reiterate our call for a provincial crime summit, where representatives from every sector of our society can assist leaders in finding solutions to crime,' says Lentit.
