Speaker, the Independent Democrats would like to thank the Honourable Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

During the Home Affairs Budget Vote Speech I raised a specific concern on the level of service at the office in Barrack Street.

This concern had been brought to my attention by an ordinary member of the public.

Just two days later, on the Sunday after my speech, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from the Minister's office regarding my query and the matter was solved amicably within a week.

The Minister has thus far lived up to her promises to be candid about the massive challenges in the Department and to deal with officials that do not provide proper services to our people.

The ID has followed her progress for the past 2 months closely and is also impressed with her commitment to root out corruption.

We in the Independent Democrats are very happy that we finally have a Minister that is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and clean up the Department of Home Affairs.

We will join her in singing together,
Awlethu iwashing mashini.

I thank you.
