The Independent Democrats (ID) MP Haniff Hoosen welcomes President Jacob Zuma’s decision to fire the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Sicelo Shiceka and Public Works Minister Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde.
Mr Hoosen was the first complainant against minister Shiceka when he wrote to the Public Protector and called on her to investigate the minister’s conduct, which led to the Public Protector’s call on President Zuma to take serious action against Shiceka.
‘The decision of the president should serve as a stern warning to other ministers in the cabinet to conduct themselves in a more responsible manner where public funds are concerned.
‘The ID predicted that the president would act speedily in case of Minister Shiceka as we believe that Shiceka had long fallen out of favour with his political friends in the ANC,’ says Hoosen.
