Title: ID: Mcgluwa: Address by the Parliamentary leader, on the Protection of State Information Bill, in the National Assembly
Speaker
It will be a sad day for all South Africans if this Bill should be passed.
We acknowledge that good changes have been made in comparison to its original version. We are however convinced that many sections of the Bill may be unconstitutional.
We call on the President not to sign this Bill if and when it appears before him. We also call on all ANC MPs to vote with their conscience today and plead with them not to support this Bill.
This is a People’s Parliament – elected by the people. Why should we keep secrets from the people while the ANC promised transparency during the Apartheid days.
If you as ANC MPs support this Bill, the day will come when you will regret your decision. That will be the day you will be sitting on this side of the House.
I Thank You!
