Leader of the United Democratic Movement (UDM), Bantu Holomisa, yesterday sent a letter of complaint to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), regarding High Court Judge Chris Nicholson's ruling in the Jacob Zuma corruption case last year.
Addressed to Chief Justice Pius Langa, chairperson of the JSC, the letter noted that Zuma's prominence meant that it was in the public interest that any "perceived instance of judicial bias" be investigated.
The UDM called on the JSC to investigate the instances identified by the SCA where Judge Nicholson had contravened judicial procedure. The letter also called for an investigation into whether Nicholson was fit to hold office.
The UDM called for such investigations because of the major political implications of Nicholson's ruling.
