Service providers who perform poorly have no place in Gauteng's administration, Premier Nomvula Mokonyane said in her State of Province speech on Tuesday.

"We have no permanent marriage with service providers, but a relationship based on performance and mutual trust.

"Those that only see government as the milking cow and lower their standards when it comes to doing work for government have no place in this administration," said Mokonyane.

"For a long time the government has been taken for a ride by greedy service providers who care less about the welfare of our people. The buck stops here and now."

Mokonyane said her government would look for ways to cut costs and improve efficiency in service delivery.

Management of projects would be administered by government officials rather than being outsourced to private service providers.
