Public Enterprises Jeff Radebe announced yesterday that his Director General, Dr Sivi Gounden, will be leaving the department at the end of May 2003 to pursue a career in the private sector.

Gounden, who was also Radebe's DG at the Department of Public Works, was appointed DG of Public Enterprises after the former Office for Public Enterprises was upgraded into a fully-fledged department in September 1999.

Radebe thanked Gounden for contribution and wished him well for the future.

The Minister confirmed that Gounden had achieved all of the significant milestones, defined in his performance agreements during his three-year tenure and that he had left behind a competent core team of managers and staff that would support him in continuing the good work that was done in the last three years.

Advertisements for the post of DG will be placed shortly.
