The 2010 Fortune/Time/CNN Global Forum, to be hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Cape Town, in June, would focus on business, economic, and social opportunities in the developing world.

South African Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies said on Monday that the forum would be the business and economic centrepiece of the 2010 FIFA World Cup period.

"This is a key moment for South Africa to seize the legacy of the World Cup and to advance long-term opportunities for growth and prosperity," he said, adding that the forum would also include the DTI's annual Africa Dialogue.

Chairpersons and CEOs of a number of multinational firms, such as China Mobile, Citigroup, Coca-Cola, Daimler, Deutsche Bank, General Electric, Royal Dutch Shell, and Rio Tinto have already confirmed their attendance.

Further, French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde, US trade representative Ronald Kirk and Pakistani PM Shaukat Aziz would also attend the forum.

Participants from South Africa would include Public Enterprises Minister Barbara Hogan, Minister in the Presidency for National Planning Trevor Manuel, business personalities Cyril Ramaphosa and Patrice Motsepe, and archbishop Desmond Tutu.
