GDE holds Colloquium on bullying

Gauteng MEC for Education Ms Barbara Creecy will on Tuesday, 21 August 2012, address a Colloquium on the Prevention of Bullying in schools.

The Colloquium aims to establish current trends regarding bullying, to assess the impact of bullying on the school life of children, learning and teaching, and the overall functionality of schools. It will also explore solutions to minimize incidents and consequences of bullying.

Some of the speakers at the Colloquium will include Arthur Goldstuck of World Wide Worx, Tsholofelo Sesanga of the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation, Salim Vally of the University of Johannesburg, Patrick Burton of the Centre for Justice and Crime Prevention, as well as John Buswell of Rapewise.

The topics they will address include child-parent technology gap, policies and practice for managing bullying in the classroom, as well as dealing with bullying in the classroom.
