Members of media are hereby invited to Freedom Park’s fourth Ungasali Storytelling Festival taking place on Saturday 11 March 2017.
The Festival is inspired by Freedom Park’s primary mission, to promote reconciliation among the people of South Africa to the extent that the society is coherent, united and functional and providing an environment within which its citizens can flourish, including some of the State’s goals and priorities as spelled out in the vision 2030 of the National Developmental Plan.
The theme for this year’s Ungasali storytelling festival is: “My Story, the Story of My Future. Renowned storytellers from around the country like Dr. Gcina Mhlophe, Masoja Msiza, and Willem Fransman will perform. The very first Freedom Park storytelling book will also be launched at the event.
The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture Ms. Rejoice Mabudafhasi will officially open the festival. An audience comprising of learners, educators, academics, authors and the general public are expected to attend. A carnival show will kick start the festival. The storytelling event will be preceded by storytellers and poets visit to Kgosi Mampuru Prison and Rivoningo Orphanage on the 10 March 2017.
