The
Minister for Agriculture and Land Affairs has announced that
Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Food Pricing Monitoring
Committee as one of the strategies to deal with the problem of high
food prices.
The Committee will be established in terms of the Marketing of
Agricultural Products Act, No 47 of 1996, and the National
Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC), which will advise the
Minister for Agriculture and Land Affairs, will oversee its
work.
The National Agricultural Marketing Council is therefore calling on
interested individuals with expert knowledge in economic analysis,
especially regarding the food chain, to submit names and CVs for
consideration to be members of the Committee, The NAMC will appoint
from the names received a Committee of 7 members. The deadline for
the submission of CVs is Friday 6 December 2002.
