The death of defenceless ill people and innocent babies as a result of the public service strike is the worst form of selfishness. It attests of extremely unprofessional behaviour of South African health workers. A South African society which tolerates this kind of behaviour is a society in crisis with very serious moral and disciplinary problems.

What should have been an ordinary strike about salaries is busy developing into a great shame for all South Africans. No salary dispute justifies the death of people and the destruction of young matriculant's careers.

From the radicalism of the leadership of Cosatu it is appearing more and more that there may be a hidden agenda behind the strike. Cosatu leaders have already expressed their frustrations with president Zuma because he is not following their policy directions. After his election as president with the help of Cosatu, they believed that he owed it to them. To which extent are innocent public servants now being used to settle the power struggle between Cosatu and the ANC leadership?

It is tragic that victims of this struggle at present are the innocent babies, defenceless ill people and young school children. The Freedom Front Plus demands that hidden agendas be put aside and that workable solutions are found as quickly as possible in the interest of everyone in South Africa.
