"The Cabinet decision to again use the Defence Force for boarder control is welcomed by the Freedom Front Plus. It however remains inexplicable as to why the Mbeki government had withdrawn the Defence Force from the boarders. The outbursts of xenophobic incidents such as being seen at presenting in De Doorns is largely the result of the withdrawal of the Defence Force from the borders. The disbanding of the commandos is now being proven as having been a big mistake of the government," Mr. Pieter Groenewald (MP), the chief spokesperson of the Freedom Front Plus on Defence says.

"The Freedom Front Plus warned right in the beginning that the police do not have the manpower and ability to protect the borders. The Zimbabwe/Mozambique border and the Lesotho border should be given preference with the deployment of the Defence Force. The influx of prohibited
immigrants from especially Zimbabwe and Mozambique and especially the live stock thefts on the Lesotho border has to be stopped immediately," Mr. Groenewald said.
