"The recruitment of former members of the Police is an attempt to lighten the crisis in the Police with regards to the Soccer World Cup that will take place later this year. The crisis in the Police is that it consists of nearly 200 000 members but does not possess the necessary expertise. The Freedom Front Plus warned in the past that the mere increase of Police membership is not a solution without the necessary standards of training. The recruitment of former members with expertise is proof of this and indicates crisis management in the Police," Mr. Pieter Groenewald (MP), the chief spokesperson on the Police for the Freedom Front Plus says.
"Former members will also be careful to join the Police again due to the black on white racism in the Police. At present there are various court cases where black police members had laid false charges against white members. This is done to discriminate against white officers. White members are suspended for the most insignificant reasons and lose their salaries and medical benefits until the cases have been finalized, but many black members can just continue with their work. Although the FF Plus welcomes the appointment of former Police members and their expertise, this racism will first have to be stopped and eradicated," Groenewald said.
