"The comments of Julius Malema about land reform that ‘the land was stolen from us' breeds racial hatred. Nobody's land was stolen and all landowners acquired their land legally. Land owners furthermore do not apologize for it. It is statements like this that cause racial hatred and can lead to violent conflict. It is time for President Zuma to tell Malema where to get off," Mr. Pieter Groenewald, the FF Plus' Parliamentary spokesperson on Agriculture and Land Affairs says.

"Land reform is an emotional issue and farmers, in particular, are tired of having to hear that they are delaying the land reform process. It is not the land owners but the Land Claims Commissioners in the different provinces who are delaying the land reform process. Land owners are prepared to make their land available at reasonable prices, but the inability and maladministration of the Land Claims Commissioners are delaying the process and are creating unnecessary tension. The government also doesn't have the money to reach their unattainable targets and it is unfair to keep on blaming the land owners," Mr. Groenewald says.
