"The Deputy Minister of Police, Mr. Fikile Mbalula's statements about the killing of civilians being inevitable, is irresponsible. To say that in the striving to do ones duties civilians will be victimized creates the impression of carelessness about the lives of innocent people. The message which is being sent out is that an innocent life is worth nothing. It could also fire up the Police to act irresponsibly," Mr. Pieter Groenewald (MP), the FF Plus' chief spokesperson on Police says.
"Although the Freedom Front Plus supports the Minister of Police, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa with his comments that Police Members should be equipped to "fight fire with fire", these statements of Mbalula can not be tolerated. Police Members should at all times follow the rules and regulations on the use of firearms," Groenewald said.
