“Ms. Winnie Madikizela-Mandela should be arrested for obstruction of justice. Her actions show her contempt for law-enforcement and create the impression that she is above the law. Should any other member of the public have acted in such a way, they would have been arrested immediately. As a Member of Parliament (MP) she should be setting an example, but her actions are an embarrassment for other Parliamentarians. The Freedom Front Plus will be asking the Minister of Police, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa, for an investigation into the event,” Mr. Pieter Groenewald (MP) and chief spokesperson on Police for the Freedom Front Plus says.

“The actions of Gauteng’s Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt.Gen. Mzwandile Petros, speaks of favouritism and bias in favour of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. He is supposed to protect his members, but have ordered them to apologise. This places a question mark on his integrity as Commissioner of Gauteng. We will also be asking the Police Minister to investigate the Commissioner,” Mr. Groenewald said.
