“The findings of the Public Protector, Adv. Thuli Madonsela, that the minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms. Tina Joemat-Pettersson, had a blank-check attitude and was ignorant about the costs of her hotel account, makes her unfit and incompetent as a minister. The money of taxpayers which she used for her and her children’s holiday, should definitely be repaid,” Mr. Pieter Groenewald, the parliamentary spokesperson on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for the Freedom Front Plus said.
“It is in contrast to the deputy minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Dr. Pieter Mulder, who does not have any ministerial house. In Cape Town Dr. Mulder lives amongst ordinary MP’s and officials in Acacia Park. According to the Ministerial Handbook, Dr. Mulder could also have stayed in hotels but he saves taxpayers’ money by living in Acacia Park,” Groenewald said.
