The murderous raids which continue everyday in a similar way as the murder on Mr. Kobus Snyman in Midrand this past week-end, points to a disconcerting element of barbarousness which governs in South Africa," Mr. Jaco Mulder, the FF Plus' MPL in Gauteng says.
"This follows that the 42 year old Mr. Kobus Snyman was shot in cold blood this past week-end in front of his wife and children and the criminals walked away from the crime scene with a laptop and cellular phones. The Soccer World Cup should not serve as deflector for this barbaric element of our society which together with poor service delivery could derail our country," Mulder said. "Every time I sit outside with my family on our patio over a week-end, I necessarily have to think of the possibility that uninvited people could scale the hedge and wipe out my family; we read about it every week in the newspapers."
The fact that these attacks at homes continue on a large scale, indicates that the government and the SAPD can not control it. The world will have to take note of this barbaric element of the South African society during the 2010 world cup.
Mulder furthermore expressed his doubt as to whether the SAPS does have the capability to protect the public with the extra burden which the Soccer World Cup will be placing on the law-enforcement community.
