The Freedom Front Plus condemns the Premier of Gauteng, Ms, Nomvula Mokonyane's hostile comments against white ratepayers in the Tshwane Metro. The FF Plus' leader in Gauteng and MPL, Mr. Jaco Mulder, will be requesting an urgent meeting with the Gauteng Premier in regards to these comments.

Mokonyane said amongst others that white residents are "strangling" the Tshwane Metro Council financially and implied that it was only white people who complain about service delivery.

According to Dr. Conrad Beyers, FF Plus Councillor in the Tshwane Metro Council, the Premier is either petulant or merely uninformed. White rate payers in the Tshwane Metro area are traditionally the most loyal rate payers and the metro council's biggest source of income comes from this section of the population, even though whites only make up 25% of the municipality's population.

The problem with the metro council's finances is specifically about the ANC controlled metro council's inability or petulance to force non-payers in the townships to pay for services.

"The ANC does not have the political will to act strongly against non-payers in the townships because the ANC is scared to loose its support there. The ANC rather targets white taxpayers, who loyally pay their rates to serve as an excuse for their poor financial management and service delivery record. Leave loyal white rate payers alone. The ANC should watch out for the time that white people become fed up with these types of attacks and indeed stop paying rates," Beyers said.

The FF Plus also said that it is a false excuse of the Gauteng Premier that only white people complain about service delivery. "Did the premier not see the huge marches and violent protests in Mamelodi, the Brits area and other places in Gauteng about service delivery in her province? It is not only whites who are dissatisfied. The ANC is busy harming everyone, both black and white, on a municipal level with their inability to deliver services."
