The Freedom Front Plus has accused the ANC that it was being dishonest about nationalisation and that the ANC is silently supporting the policy of nationalisation and appropriation despite the ANC’s leadership’s views that nationalisation is at present not the policy of the party.
This follows after the ANC in the Northwest officially sided with the ANCYL and supported the nationalisation of mines, according to media reports. It is the first time that a body within the ANC has supported such a policy.
The FF Plus has warned that the ANC’s planned economic experiment to launch a sharpened economic attack on a portion of the South African population will be detrimental for the whole country, including the poorer part of the population.
According to Dr. Conrad Beyers, the FF Plus’ spokesperson on Finance, the nationalisation of core industries is associated worldwide with countries which cannot make it economically. The current uncertainty about nationalisation is already damaging the economy due to disinvestments and the frightening away of investors.
The FF Plus said that all South Africans, both black and white, have an interest in the debate. “The ANC is not going to stop with the nationalisation of mines. After the mines the farms, banks and pensions will follow. It is extremely important that South Africans urgently and clearly demonstrate their opposition to the ANC’s radicalism,” Beyers said.
“Unemployment and a massive increase in poverty are the inevitable consequence of the economic damage to the country due to nationalisation and appropriations – as was the case in Zimbabwe. When one shoots the white stripes of a Zebra, the animal dies – also the black stripes of the Zebra. The ANC is busy with a dangerous game which will be to the detriment of the whole of South Africa.”
