The Freedom Front Plus welcomes it that unnecessary services such as neck and shoulder massages will no longer be offered to workers of the South African National Road Agency Limited (Sanral). This follows a parliamentary question posed to the Minister of Transport by Adv. Anton Alberts, Freedom Front Plus parliamentary spokesperson on Transport, following the unwarranted nature of these services for Sanral workers.
"It is outrageous that road users are paying higher prices for toll roads and an increasing number of toll road systems are being implemented. The initial decision that Sanral workers will, as part of their employment conditions, be entitled to shoulder and neck massages, is unfair toward road users. The scrapping of these services is therefore gladdening to hear," Adv. Alberts said.
"The FF Plus however still regards the high toll road fees as well as the aggressive expansion of the toll road system throughout South Africa as unacceptable. The new toll system in Gauteng is a huge burden to road users and will bring about a very serious and negative effect on the economy of the province. In this regard, the FF Plus asked the Minister of Transport whether any economic impact study had been done to determine how the additional fees will affect the province. The Minister still owes the FF Plus an answer," Adv. Alberts added.
The FF Plus remains committed to oppose increasing high taxes and service fees which taxpayers are being forced to pay.
