“The FF Plus has with disapproval noted the decision of government to lift the moratorium on the exploration of shale gas in the Karoo. The party is of the opinion that there are many examples that serve as sufficient proof that fracking is dangerous to the environment.

The ANC government did not at all indicate how fracking can be done responsibly. We are also concerned about the advantages the ANC and its cadres will be acquiring through this,” was the reaction of adv. Anton Alberts, FF Plus parliamentary spokesperson on Mineral Resources, to the announcement made by minister Collins Chabane today.

The FF Plus will be asking government to release the report and will study it. The party will, where possible, oppose fracking and will even take legal steps in conjunction with other interest groups.
