The Unrepresented Nations and People Organization’s (UNPO) conference in Geneva, unanimously accepted a motion in which they expressed their concern about the discrimination in South Africa against minority groups.

The motion was proposed and motivated by Dr. Pieter Mulder, FF Plus leader.

The motion also recommended that a request is addressed to the Secretary General of the United Nations to send a fact finding mission to South Africa in order to find out first-hand about the circumstances such as amongst others farm murders in South Africa.

Dr. Mulder was elected as member of the presidency (Executive Committee) of UNPO during the conference. The presidency consists of nine members. As president of UNPO, Mr. Ngawang Choepel of Tibet was elected. The new vice president is Mr. Mohamoud Daar from Somaliland. (See http://www.unpo.org/article/15211)

In the UNPO motion, reference was made amongst others to affirmative action which is used to discriminate against white, brown and Indian people based on their race in the workplace, entrance requirements to university, awarding of tenders and discrimination even on the welfare terrain.

These issues were also discussed during a meeting between Dr. Mulder and Mr. Antti Korkeakivi, chief of the UN’s office for Indigenous People and Minorities.

Dr. Mulder was accompanied to Geneva by Mr. André Fourie, FF Plus councillor in Cape Town and chairperson of the party’s Foreign Relations and Internationalising Committee.

Mr. Fourie attended the UN Human Rights Commission’s Forum on Minority Affairs and addressed the attendees about South Africa.

“It was extremely encouraging to, together with other groups from across the world, be part of a passionate discussion forum where concepts such as self-determination, diversity, identity, ethnicity, group, community and minority rights are discussed in depth and not dismissed as politically incorrect as is being done in South Africa by both the governing ANC government and the DA,” was Mr. Fourie’s summation of the meetings.

The Freedom Front Plus believes that all opportunities should be used to discuss the position of minorities in South Africa internationally,” Dr. Pieter Mulder, leader of the FF Plus said.
