"The organisations are of the opinion that the Expropriation Bill is unconstitutional and in conflict with international norms as well," according to a joint statement issued after discussions.
In attendance were representatives from 12 organisations such as AfriForum, the FW De Klerk Foundation, Agri-SA, TAU SA, Solidarity, the Agricultural Employers Organisation, the National Tax Payers Union and the Democratic Alliance.
"The mentioned organisations agreed that the proposed legislation will be to the detriment of every South African, as not only fixed property such as land will be influenced by it, but all property, moveable and immovable, rural and urban."
The organisations also unanimously agreed that a joint strategy should be devised to prevent the "draconic legislation".
An interim committee was established to co-ordinate the strategy and, in addition to parliamentary submissions and presentations already made and still to be made, legal action was also being planned.
