The international community is on the verge of breaking a promise made to the world’s children. Just over ten years ago, governments pledged to ensure that every child would have the chance of a decent quality basic education by 2015. We are now five years from that deadline – and less than one primary school generation from a broken promise. Many of the poorest countries are far off track for achieving the education goals. There is still time to change this picture. We have the resources and we know which policies work.
