The international community is on the verge of breaking a promise made to the world’s children. Just over ten years ago, governments pledged to ensure that every child would have the chance of a decent quality basic education by 2015. We are now five years from that deadline – and less than one primary school generation from a broken promise. Many of the poorest countries are far off track for achieving the education goals.
