Title: Dowry: Awards for best city, town and village
STATEMENT BY MR COBUS DOWRY, WESTERN CAPE MEC OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT, BEST CITIES AND TOWNS - MUNICIPALITIES MUST BE CONGRATULATED
Without exception the awards for best city, town and village were awarded to towns in the Western Cape. The honour came to the Western Cape with the City of Cape Town as the best city, Knysna as the best town and Montagu as best village. This is a remarkable achievement for a remarkable province. All role-players must therefore be congratulated.
The commitment of municipalities must also be mentioned. For this reasons the mayors, councillors, municipal managers and officials must be thanked for their dedication and commitment to our cities and towns. These awards will undoubtedly not only benefit these towns but also the different regions in the province and whole Western Cape community.
With these awards a very high standard were set for the Western Cape and this will undoubtedly contribute towards the Western Cape's popularity as a tourist destination. These awards have now made it clear that we have world-class municipalities in the Western Cape.
