Title: Dingani: Briefing to SANEF Bloemfontein

Briefing by Z A Dingani to SANEF Bloemfontein on relocation of the Parliamentary Media to 90 Plein Street and General Media Facilities

Since the advent of the new democratic order and the establishment of the first democratic and open Parliament in 1994, the institution's political and administrative responsibilities expanded to an extent that we had to review the allocation of office space to accommodate these new responsibilities.

The previous Apartheid Parliament had a few staff complement that provided support to less than 5 parties. Today we have a Parliament that has about 1000 staff and 13 political parties. Each of these political parties needs to be accommodated with suitable office space to enable them to execute their mandates. Parliament is constitutionally bound to ensure that these, amongst other needs, are met.
