Today the DA Youth is laying a complaint against the chairperson of the South African Students Congress (SASCO) branch at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), Sitha Gqomfa, for a tweet posted on his Twitter handle, @gqomfasitha, stating, “DA mischievous to visit Nkandala they will die KZN akudlawa pha and they must die like cockroaches!!!”

This comes after the DA Youth laid charges against SASCO on Thursday last week with respect to a poster   erected at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology imploring international student ‘cockroaches’ and ‘white pigs’ to leave South Africa.

This is a clear and unacceptable incitement to violence and is in direct contravention of section 16 of the Bill of Rights.

This tweet is yet another incident in a long history of racist hate speech uttered by SASCO leaders, who continually seek to polarize and divide South Africans along racial lines. An organization of this nature has no place in a democratic South Africa. The fact that their parent organisation, the ANC, has and continues to be silent  about the behavior of their future leaders makes them complicit in SASCO’s actions and should be of great concern to all South Africans.
