The Hawks on Tuesday eveing confirmed the suspension of its Gauteng head Major-General Shadrack Sibiya.

Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi confirmed that Sibiya was suspended with full pay; however, he was unabe to divulge more information saying it was still an internal matter.

Mulaudzi said the suspension would last as long as the investigation took and said the Hawks would ensure all processes were followed.

Sibiya's lawyer Victor Nkhwashu also confirmed that he received  his suspension notice.

More than one million people may have been forced to leave their homes in northern Nigeria by the five-year-old insurgency of Islamist sect Boko Haram.

The militants' attacks may force even more people to flee, both internally and to Cameroon, Niger and Chad, which could destabilise the region.

The Sunni Muslim sect, which is trying to carve out an Islamic state in the largely Muslim north of the west African country, has killed thousands since 2009 in what is seen as the biggest security threat to Africa's top oil producer.

In their most recent major attack earlier this month, the insurgents are thought to have killed hundreds of people in the northern fishing town of Baga, though the death toll is unknown.

Rating agency Moody's has changed the South African National Roads Agency Limited's (or Sanral's) outlook from stable to negative. The dowgrade was due to debt and decreased e-toll revenue.

The agency said the change in outlook and lower Baseline Credit Assessment reflected the decrease in Sanral's financial strength following weaker than expected e-toll revenue collection, and Sanral's plans to increase debt issuance.

The non-payment of e-tolls increased following a decision by the provincial government to establish a panel to assess the impact of e-tolls in doing business – which sparked speculation among the general public that the e-toll project may be abandoned.

Global solar group Talesun Energy ranks South Africa as the top renewable-energy investment destination.

Mistrust between Nigeria and neighbouring Cameroon as well as disagreements over how to deploy troops against Boko Haram have stalled efforts to set up a regional force to combat the Islamist militants.

A commander of the Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army, who is wanted for war crimes, was transferred to the International Criminal Court in The Hague on Tuesday.

And, Gauteng Rural Development MEC Lebogang Maile has identified land reform and redistribution as matters requiring immediate resolution.
