And, no power cuts planned for Tuesday

Government allocates R143-million for drought relief in Limpopo

South Africa's department of human settlements, water and sanitation has allocated R143-million for drought relief in Moutse in Limpopo province.

The funds will be administered by water board Lepelle Northern Water and will be used to drill new boreholes and refurbish existing ones.

Human settlements minister Lindiwe Sisulu visited the area on Friday and assured the community that additional water tanks would be provided, with priority given to the elderly, schools, the local police station and the area's Philadelphia Hospital.

Ramaphosa to meet business executives on infrastructure investment

President Cyril Ramaphosa is due to meet chief executives of commercial banks and leaders of multilateral development finance institutions today to assess progress made in efforts to intensify infrastructure investment.

In his state of the nation address in Parliament last week, Ramaphosa said infrastructure development was at the centre of the government’s agenda for inclusive economic growth and creating jobs.

Ramaphosa's inaugural meeting with executives would seek to enhance collaboration among stakeholders.

No power cuts planned for Tuesday

Eskom says it is not planning to implement power cuts today.

The power utility said that additional generating units had returned to service and its emergency reserves were at adequate levels.

However, the ailing power utility reminded customers that South Africa's power system was vulnerable and cuts could be implemented at short notice if there are any changes in system’s performance.

Eskom urged consumers to use electricity sparingly.
