Earlier this morning I visited OR Tambo International Airport to welcome back our paralympic heroes. They have been an inspiration to us all and have made us proud.

I was particularly struck this morning by the large number of disabled young people who attended the welcoming celebrations. And even though our paralympians are heroes to us all, it was clear that disabled South Africans found special inspiration in the successes of our paralympian heroes.

They have given hope to those who live with disabilities and have shown that they too can achieve success. They represented us with utmost professionalism and deserve the respect and admiration of the nation.
