Earlier this morning I led a group of DA supporters to OR Tambo to welcome back South Africa’s heroes. We joined in with a host of other people from all walks of life to celebrate the arrival of South Africa’s Olympians.

The DA salutes and congratulates our Olympic heroes; they have thrilled the nation and made us proud.

There were a number of organizations and many members of the public present. The ANC and non-aligned organizations like Lead SA and others were also involved.

What was remarkable was that everyone in attendance this morning united together behind our sports heroes without question. People in both DA T-shirts and ANC T-shirts were celebrating together, without concern for political differences.

It was a great pleasure to have been able to participate in this welcome home celebration.
