The DA Youth congratulates the University of Cape Town Graduate Business School for the recognition it is receiving for promoting educational excellence through its Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programme. The Financial Times (FT) Global MBA Rankings for 2011 has ranked UCT’s Graduate Business School 29 places higher than last year, moving from 89th in the world to 60th. This is an impressive achievement – as the top business school in Africa, and the only one ranked in the top 100 for seven consecutive years, the School’s commitment to outstanding teaching and learning offers a model for higher education in Africa.

UCT Graduate Business School’s steady march up the rankings shows that we can achieve global distinction and compete with the best. In further recognition of this fact, the FT rated UCT as having the “best value for money” in the world. That is a brilliant distinction. Attractive to international students who desire quality education and global recognition, UCT’s Graduate Business School also scored well in the FT’s International Experience Rank, the Career Progress Rank, the International Faculty Rank and the International Mobility Rank.

This recognition also comes hard on the heels of another ranking a few months ago, by Eduniversal, which placed the School 44th in the world, based on scores offered by business school deans from over 100 countries.

As the business hub of Africa, South Africa needs business schools that produce top quality entrepreneurs, executives, managers and administrators. It also needs government leaders who understand the value of private enterprise and the dynamic contribution businesses and their personnel can make to the country and continent. The DA Youth salutes the University of Cape Town for striving to distinguish itself as a centre of excellence, and for the contribution it is making to our country’s future development.
