The Democratic Alliance (DA) congratulates Minister of Home Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for leading her department to its first unqualified audit since the dawn of democracy. This is a significant achievement for a department that has been plagued with corruption, inefficiency and poor service to the public.

While good financial management is critical, it is only one way of assessing the department. It still has a way to go to turn around its ID document management issues and provide friendly, responsive and efficient customer service. We hope that the Minister will apply the same political will to fixing the internal management and public service aspects of her department as she has to its financial management.
