The Democratic Alliance condemns the alleged behaviour of International Relations & Cooperation senior South African diplomat, Mlulami Singapi, as deplorable. The alleged assault on the Department's Head of Corporate Services is reportedly a second serious incident of this nature, and raises questions about what exactly the Department is doing to address this matter.

The DA has made numerous attempts to contact the Department of International Relations & Cooperation to ascertain whether action has been taken against Mr Singapi; and if not, why not. It is patently wrong that action was not taken against Mr Singapi after the first alleged assault incident.

We will be writing to the Minister of International Relations & Cooperation, asking whether Mr Singapi has been suspended, pending the outcomes on the investigation.
