DA welcomes 5 former COPE branches in Khuma.

On Saturday 14 July 2012 the DA has officially welcomed 5 former branches of COPE to the party with open arms. More than 100 supporters from wards 31, 32, 34 and 35 attended the meeting in freezing cold weather to witness former Executive Member and Provincial Recruiter of COPE Vangile Sisi Masango along with activist Aron Marumo, Mando Leekitane and Simanga Sithole officially joining the Democratic Alliance.

This event was attended by Provincial Deputy Leader Joe Mcgluwa MP, Provincial Chairperson Winston Rabotapi MP, and Chairperson of the Constituency Maritha Coetzee accompanied by Lee-Ann Robinson, councillor responsible for Khuma and other local councillors.
“Those who have joined us have consulted with their communities and we are expecting more people, especially from Naledi and other parts of the province” say Constituency Chairperson Maritha Coetzee. Also addressing the gathering, deputy leader of the Province Joe Mcgluwa said under applause that the results in by elections across the country have recorded an increase in support among black voters. These results show that these by elections underscore that the worn –out smear propaganda by the ANC – that the DA is a “white” party, is losing all credibility. Voters simply don’t believe it.

Responding to questions after the event regarding the party growth in the province, Constituency Chairperson Maritha Coetzee said “The DA has made no secret of our plan to be the official opposition in 2014 in the Province and to secure the victory, we need leaders who will work tirelessly between now and 2014, building our brand and welcoming all South Africans to the DA, and what we have seen here today was is a number of
black talent that symbolised the vision of our party”
According to Coetzee the DA in the North West is the fastest growing party in the country.
