The Democratic Alliance in Hartbeespoort has requested that the NW MEC for Health, Dr Magome Masike, to intervene in the progressive decline in health services at the clinic in Hartbeespoort. Our investigation has shown that there is a weekly shortage of medicine - not even aspirin is regularly available.
After bringing this to the attention of the:
- Unhygienic conditions
- Vandalism & theft due to a dysfunctional security system.
- Faulty toilet flushing system. Overflowing toilets – contributing to the filthy situation at the clinic.
- No cooler bags for vaccines or a refrigerator for the storage of vaccines and insulin. The cooler bags were stolen and never replaced. was stolen and never replaced.
- Geyser removed from clinic 4 months ago by the Madibeng maintenance department and never replaced. There is no hot water available in the clinic.
- Clinic needs painting.
- Staff Shortages for over a year hand a half.
- Shortage of various medicines: Premarin, Vitamins, Ibuprofen and Co-Trimoxasazole – over 6 months.
Patients from Bapong and Majakaneng visit this clinic daily because of medicine and staff shortage at their clinics pushing the patient load to approximately 144 patients per day at Hartbeespoort Clinic.
This situation, even after a number of requests to attend to the growing problems at the clinic, cannot be allowed to continue as patient’s lives depend on the health services provided by this clinic.
The DA, in view of the extended lack of service delivery at this clinic will also file a formal complaint at the South-African Human Rights Commission.
Madibeng municipality has ignored all memo’s/letters from the DA Ward Councillor over the last year.
