The South African public is owed an explanation after the head coach of South Africa's athletics teams, Wilfred Daniels, resigned from his job without proper reasons or justification. The Democratic Alliance (DA) would like to know what the exact reasons were, other than Daniel's ‘crisis of conscience', that led to his resignation and what role Athletics South Africa (ASA) played in the tests that were or were not conducted on Caster Semenya. This matter needs to be addressed immediately and the truth must be revealed. Daniels admitted that Semenya was not treated properly by ASA and should have received the proper counseling. ASA president Leonard Chuene needs to tell the South African public why Caster Semenya was allegedly ‘duped' into undergoing the gender tests and why, of all the role-players in this debacle, Daniels has resigned. The DA will be submitting the following questions to the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Rev. Dr. Makhenkesi Stofile:

What role did ASA play in the gender testing of Caster Semenya, and why was she not informed of the purpose of the test?
