The Democratic Alliance is launching an essay competition on economic policy today. The DA believes that if South Africa is going to fulfill its potential, we need to harness every good idea out there. This competition is getting the best and the brightest minds out there to tell us what they think can be done to improve our economy and build a financial sector that is internationally competitive.
• How can we stimulate growth?
• Are South Africa's labour laws holding back unemployment?
• Do you have a new way to generate jobs and fight unemployment?
All you have to do is set them down in a short essay (no longer than 2 000 words). We will use the best ideas in our alternative budget, presented to South Africa's national media core. Ideas which are relevant to the Western Cape will also be put before the DA provincial government.
The first prize is a seat in the National Assembly during the annual budget speech and the chance to meet the DA caucus to discuss your idea (travel and accommodation during your stay in Cape Town included). We'll also publish the best three essays on our website.
The full details for the competition as well as rules and style guidelines are available on the DA's website.
