The Democratic Alliance (DA) believes that the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Lindiwe Sisulu, must urgently:

spell out what action is going to be taken regarding the service conditions of soldiers at the Doornkop Military Base; and
make public the interim "ticking time bomb" report provided by the National Defence Force Service Commission

Chairperson of the National Defence Force Service Commission Judge Ronnie Bosielo's revelations that the service conditions of soldiers bordered on sub-human and that there had been a complete breakdown of discipline at the Doornkop Military Base were shocking. The situation had deteriorated to such a point that it was described as a "ticking time bomb" by the National Defence Force Service Commission. The real question is: how is it possible that the situation was allowed to deteriorate to this point and who should be held accountable? This is why the Minister must urgently spell out what action is going to be taken and make public the interim ticking time bomb report provided by the National Defence Force Service Commissio
