Following the recent savage slaughtering of another 11 Rhinos in the North West the Democratic Alliance requested that (in terms of the NW Legislature Rules) an interpellation addressing the Rhino poaching crisis that the North West Province finds itself in.
The Speaker however refused the DA’s request indicating that it will be debated in a week’s time.
The DA remains concerned about the escalating poaching that has almost become part and parcel of game farming and conservation in the NW.
The latest incident, in which at least 11 Rhinos were savagely poached in addition, because of unprofessional conduct and being in the possession of the localities of the Rhinos immediately before the poaching, also cast a cloud of suspicion on the Department.
The DA will await the forthcoming debate, will continue to motivate for investigations by the SIU and specialized agencies and will continue to engage the Department to become vigilant and pro-active in fulfilling its mandate as the conservation custodian of the NW Province.
